A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Chimo, Mexico by TravelPod blogger Slowayround titled “The road to Chimo” Slowayround’s travel blog entry: “The turn-off towards Chimo was a perfect paved road for about an hour, then became a nice, smooth, dirt road for another hour, then it got a little tricky when it got narrow with rocks and ruts. When it started to get dark we camped in the jungle under a big tree. The night sounds were great, lots of chattering, chirping and layers of cricket song and we saw fire flies! We were standing outside looking at the stars, enjoying the sounds when a donkey walked out of the bushes and past us, I think we startled it more than it startled us, which made us laugh. In the morning we continued down the road as it got worse and passed a town called Mal Paso (which means Bad Pass) and guess what… the road got worse and very steep for another couple hours. I’m glad Rover is so narrow and has high clearance. We saw a lot of people on horseback and burros and realized that’s probably the best way to travel on those roads. We found out there’s a water taxi that can get to Puerto Vallarta in about an hour. When we made it to Chimo it was all worth it. Chimo is a sweet little fishing village with beautiful beaches surrounded by jungle. There was a grove of coconut trees with coconuts covering the ground below, many of them sprouting.
